Best Ayurvedic Remedy for Eye Styes

A client came to me recently for an eye stye that seemed to arise out of nowhere and was extremely swollen and red on his right eyelid as well as under his eye. I knew just what to do! This happened to me when I had just learned about Triphala as a remedy, and sure enough, like magic, it worked! And I’ve seen it work time and time again since.

Remedy: Boil 1tsp Triphala Powder in one cup of water for 5 minutes. Strain with a very fine cheesecloth to ensure no particles remain. I use both a cheesecloth and a fine strainer. Let the decoction cool until warm. Rinse eye area with Triphala wash. Repeat 3 times per day until stye subsides.

Here is a picture of my client’s eye when he came to me and a picture of it the next morning. By the following day it was completely gone!

Triphala is a great herbal blend to keep handy as a home remedy as its healing benefits are extensive. An effective digestive and laxative, it gently cleanses the GI tract while helping to balance all doshas. It is a rejuvenative for the eyes, skin and hair, and helps to maintain healthy weight. Good for many people most of the time…but always consult a knowledgeable practitioner for proper usage and dosage.
